Boys in Hats

I think that next, I want to learn how to make a hat with ear flaps.

I made a hat for my girl

Since the last hat that I made for my girl two years ago is now too small, I decided to make her a new one.  Her favorite color is orange, but I didn't have enough orange yarn for a whole hat and so I mixed it with a little yellow.  Very cheery don't you think?  I think I will crochet a lot more this winter.  I forgot how much fun it is for me.

A little decoration

These big, bare walls have been glaring at me for some time now.  Since I unexpectedly found myself stuck at home with a sick kid today, I decided to do something about those walls.  It's not much, but it's what I had around the house and my girl is going to love it.  She is always making pictures and things and I never know what to do with them.  Now she can proudly display them in her room.   I also think that I need to tweak the height of the yellow pom-poms, but that may have to wait for another day.

A bit of the red, white, and blue

In an effort to be crafty and festive I present my attempt at a patriotic wreath.

The Quilt in the room

Remember forever ago when I posted the picture of the cute fabric and claimed that I was making a quilt for my sweet girl?  Well, it's finally done.  I even managed to finally paint her room.  Now she has a cute bed and her walls are no longer half unfinished drywall/ half boy blue color.  My girl is happy.

Quilt update

I am sure that nobody is even reading this or aware that I have posted, but just in case a straggler wanders in I wanted to let you know that I am still working on my girl's quilt.  It is turning out quite cute if I do say so myself.  Unfortunately I have hit a few glitches along the way, but I am hoping to get the quilt onto the long arm next week and maybe if things work out right I will be able to have it bound and ready to be on the bed next weekend.  It's a big dream, but that's not a problem.  I can dream big.  Pictures will come as soon as it is finished.

Getting my quilting on

As of right now my girl does not have a pretty room.  She deserves a pretty room.  She desperately wants a pretty room.  I have taken one step towards this pretty room by purchasing some super cute fabric to make her a quilt for her bed.  Now I just have to do something with this fabric.  I originally had a certain pattern in mind when I bought the fabric, but now I am not sure I feel like making that pattern anymore.  I think I want something more simple.  We'll see what I come up with and hopefully my girl will have a cute bed, sooner rather than later.

"S"

Two years ago I bought this large "S" from JoAnn's.  Last night I finally finished it and I have to say that it turned out rather well.  I originally painted it with a brown base and then a white topcoat so that the cracks were brown, but the white just disappeared into the light blue wall.  So, I slapped some more coats of white paint on top of that, added some more crackle, and then the brown.  Much, much better.  I hope to have other little "S" friends to join this one in the future.

On a side note, I also bought another mirror to go in my bedroom (yet another room that has absolutely zero decorating).  I'll post a picture of the mirror as soon as my man hangs it.

I live in a showroom

I added a mirror.  It's not my favorite mirror, but the price was right and it works for now.  Unfortunately, now I feel like I live in a furniture store showroom, except not as poorly decorated.  I just need to figure out how to bring my personality to the rest of this wall and to the mirror.  I am thinking about hanging a coffee filter wreath in front of the mirror.  I also need to figure out what to do on either side of the mirror.

My current wall dilemma

Thoughts

Wow, those cards seem like a lifetime ago.  I don't think I have made a card once since I stopped doing my card nights and since I stopped selling Close To My Heart.

I am scrapbooking this weekend with some dear friends.  I don't really feel like scrapbooking, but I always have fun and hopefully just going will get me more in the mood because I am very far behind and it needs to be done.

I like the blue background of the blog today.  It is making me feel more cheerful.
